Many are called, but few are sisters!

Family and friends,
As many of you know, or maybe don't, four years ago I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. I have had the opportunities to learn and know of God's love for me and nothing has brought me more peace. Four years ago I was seeking for happiness that I wasn't sure how to achieve. I was looking for something to fill the empty space inside of me. Well growing up in small little Blackfoot, Idaho I observed the people's lives around me and I recognized something different about my classmates who had the gospel in their lives. The seemed to have what I thought I needed. Well in an answer to my seek for this happiness the Lord blessed me with a friend  and family that had this light in their lives and home. As I grew closer to this amazing family I started staying the night on Saturday nights and attending church with them on Sunday. I loved going to church because it would always leave me with this warm fuzzy feeling inside my stomach. This family finally introduced me to the missionaries and I was then converted to the LDS church.

Throughout the past four years there have been numerous trails and struggles and somehow even in the lowest points I was able to find peace and happiness through the gospel. I am so grateful for all the blessings I have received and the knowledge I have gained. My only hope is that I to can bring that happiness to seekers. Because of that I have made the decision to serve an LDS mission and I am currently waiting for my mission call to come. I have had many of my family members ask how they assign callings. Missionaries are called from God and I truly do have a testimony of that. I am sharing a video that explains the process of mission assignments. I hope that this answers any questions that you may have. I am so excited to serve the Lord and spread his gospel to where ever I might be called.

Family and friends!

I have now received my mission call!

Dear Sister Smiddy:
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the England London Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.
You should report to the England Missionary Training Center on Thursday, March 17, 2016. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the English language.

ENGLAND LONDON MISSION!!

My first thoughts when opening my call were:
"Wow! I will finally get to ride in an airplane, or several."
"I might come home with an accent!"
"HALLELUJAH I am speaking English, but I am still going out of America!"
"That is kinda far away!"
"Umm... What if I get lost in the airport?"
"Do they eat fish there????"

Needless to say, I am nervous, but so extremely excited! I feel like I am mentally prepared for the hardships that are going to happen to me while I am miles away from my family and friends, but there is no place I would rather be! I have 3 and a half months until I leave and even preparing I get nervous, but I love this gospel and I am so grateful for the knowledge and happiness it has brought me!

Four years ago I was investigator and in threeish months I am going to be on the other side of the spectrum. Nothing is more comforting than knowing that I will have the opportunity to connect others with opportunities to discover all the eternal truths and blessings the gospel can bring.

Mis*sion*ary: {noun} someone that leaves their family for a short time, so that others can be with theirs for eternity.

Guys, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church on the Earth
today. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that Joseph Smith saw God and his son Jesus Christ. I know that he was instructed and lead by the Holy Ghost to pray to know which church was true. I know that at that time, none of the churches were completely true, though a lot of them held some truth. I know that Joseph Smith restored this gospel and brought us the word of God. I know that he was an inspired prophet of the Lord, I also know that Thomas S. Monson is an inspired prophet of the Lord. I know that prayer and humble seeking and studying can lead you to the answers you so desire. I know that Heavenly Father knows each and every one of us by name, and he loves us all unconditionally. I know that Jesus Christ suffered for our sins, that we might have the opportunity to use the atonement to be made clean and forgiven again an again. I know that Jesus Christ has felt every pain, sorrow, happiness, and every other emotion that we have experienced. I know that Christ had felt our same tendencies and temptations and he has a perfect knowledge of what its like to be in our shoes. I know that God is mindful of timing, and that thing run on his clock. I know that there is a plan of happiness and that if we make and keep our sacred covenants we can be in the presence of Christ and our God always. I know that families can be together forever and that death does not due you part. I know that the temple is the house of God and that sacred moments are kept close to the temple. I also know that the Holy Ghost is our greatest companion and without the relationship with him, you will struggle with your relationship with God. I am so grateful for my faith and testimony and I leave this with you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
